newbie alert~
Ok, long time lurker, first time poster!
I've had the pattern for ages, but have been feeling intimidated about getting started --not to mention having about 5 other projects right now taking precedence! So I figured if I languidly got started it'd be ready to be worn this fall (sweltering humidity where I live will no doubt be a contributing factor this summer as well to any potential knitting lethargy coming my way...).
But in a fit of boredom the other day I decided to actually swatch and get this ball rolling for myself:

And I am hell-bent on doing it on the cheap as much as possible too, so I'm going with Patons Classic 100% merino in a deep olive (though it's looking kinda brown in that picture). Anyone have any suggestions about what would make for a good complimentary piping colour? I was thinking of not going for anything too "contrast-y" like white, but as usual, black seems to be my fall-back colour, though I am definitely not married to that idea (I dunno, maybe another olive colour as well?)
I look forward to seeing everyone's progress, I will probably have lots of questions myself!

you are using the exact same color as me!!
check out my blog in a little bit - I am updating it with a sneak peek at the almost finished jacket.
amazing, now I'm extra excited! I just peeked and I really like the purple trim you've chosen, looks great! What did you end up using for the pockets? (and I'm assuming that extra ball is just for the interior of the pockets, right?)
thanks!! the pockets are actually made out of the lining fabric. Olga (olgajazzzy.blogspot.com) suggested this, as the knitted pockets will make your jacket sag more. And yes, the extra ball is for the pocket.
They look good.
